The Solstice Power High Heat Transfer Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV) Cell Mount is able to achieve a theoretical overall thermal resistance of 1.2 × 10−5 Km2⁄ W , which is at least 7× better than any commercially available CPV cell mount. Simulations and analysis suggest that this would allow for reliable performance at concentration values in excess of 2000 suns while maintaining a temperature difference between the multijunction solar cell aperture surface and coolant of less than 30C. The potential market implications of this performance gain are tremendous, and by our estimates, would result in a price decrease from the current 2015 cost estimates of $2.58⁄Watt to $1.58⁄Watt for a fully installed CPV solar farm.
